ON behalf of the Global Creative Industries Programme of the School of

Modern Languages and Cultures, the University of Hong Kong, we are

delighted to invite scholars, researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate

students from all disciplines in humanities, education, social sciences and

business to propose papers and panels for the Fourth Global Creative Industries Conference to be held at Zhejiang Gongshang University

from 26th May to 27th May 2018.

Major themes:

 

“Where E-Sports Industries Have Been and Where It Would Go?”

The inclusion of e-Sports as an official sporting program at the 2022 Asian Games in China, has reflected the rapid development and popularity of this new form of sports among general public in the past decades. As the industry-leading e-Sports club in China (Hangzhou) e-Sports Digital Entertainment Town located in Xiacheng District, how would LGD comments on the past events and the future development of e-sports industry? In the coming future, the development of E-sports industry would be a main focus of the Global Creative Industry Programme of the University of Hong Kong. Would the introduction of video games studies to the universities education system sparks new ideas?

 

“Creative Industries plus the Real Estate Industry”

When most of the officials, scholars, practitioners, entrepreneurs and developers have exploited the idea of creative industries and undergo transformation, it is critical for them to understand the industry's unique nature and utilize the industry’s competitive advantage in order to acquire an unexpected extra rewards in its transformation. What opportunities and challenges will emerge when traditional real estate industry blended with creative industries? Let’s discuss and exchange ideas with scholars and practitioners from all around the world in Hangzhou, where creative industry landmarks, including Dream Town, E-sports Entertainment center, Art Town and Animation Square are located at.

 

“Film Industry: From Global to China, and Vice Versa”

Wolf Warrior 2 became a huge commercial success at the Chinese box office, raking in 5.68 billion yuan in ticket sales. As China’s film industry emerges as having a tremendous growth potential, a growing number of foreign practitioners have expressed keen interest in entering the untapped Chinese market. Meanwhile, China’s film industry is facing opportunities and challenges under globalization. Regarding to these, we hope to seize the opportunity to provide a platform in order to facilitae the development and promote the film industry. We are delighted to invite researchers, educators, and practitioners to exchange ideas, form alliances, and build networks to advance both the industries and the understanding of the field.

Participants are very welcome to submit paper proposals on other themes.

 
 
 
 
Proposals Submission

 

 

The panel organizer should provide a list of all the papers proposed (including email address and affiliation of the presenter/chair/discussant) plus an abstract of 250-word (maximum; in English/Chinese) for each paper to the Organizing Committee by email at gci.con2018@gmail.com

 

Individual paper proposals are equally welcome. A titled proposed paper (including email address and affiliation of the presenter) and its abstract of 250-word (maximum; in English/Chinese) should also be sent to gci.con2018@gmail.com
 

Individuals/companies/organization are who intend to organize roundtable discussions are welcome. A proposal listing out the discussion topic (including name, email address and affiliation of the presenter/chair/discussant) in 250-word (maximum; in English/Chinese) should also be sent to gci.con2018@gmail.com

 

Artists/individuals/companies/organizations who intend to hold workshops or exhibitions during the conference are welcome. A proposal introducing the details and the form of exhibition/workshop (including the name, email address, affiliation of the party concerned) in 200-word (maximum; in English/Chinese) should also be sent to gci.con2018@gmail.com

 

Public who intend to participate in the conference but have no interest in presenting individual papers, joining panel discussion and holding workshops or exhibitions during the conference are equally welcome. A one-page (maximum, in English/Chinese) personal statement (including name, email address and affiliation of individual) should also be sent to gci.con2018@gmail.com.
 

 
 
Official Languages

 

English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese).

Other languages, such as Japanese and Korean, are also welcome.

Please mention in your proposal the specific language that panel members / individual presenters will use.

 
 
 
Registration Fees
 

USD 60 / CYN 450  for each presenter, panel chair, and discussant;

USD 40 / CYN 300  for retired resident and undergraduate student

Notice of acceptance: April 11th, 2018

Proposal Registration deadline: April 21st, 2018
