SINCE its establishment in 2012, the Global Creative Industries Programme of The University of Hong Kong has been endeavoring to foster the development of the creative industries, enhance interdisciplinary research on creativity and nurture creative talents. The fourth conference on global creative industries is to provide a platform for researchers, educators, and practitioners to present their most updated research on all aspects of creative industries in all parts of the world. Creative industries in East Asia have been promoted for decades, but living in a more and more globalized world, we believe that it is the right time to discuss what are the opportunities and challenges faced by East Asian Creative Industries in the global context so that we can identify what should be done for the industries to grow in the coming decades.
